Quarterly Goals (April-June)

I made a post back in January about my Quartlerly goals for January-March. Now it’s time to see what my next quarterly goals are and what I accomplished last quarter!

Writing/Editing Goals:

  • Participate in Camp NaNoWriMo
  • Finishing writing draft 1 of new fantasy novel
  • Get Masked Book 1 ready for beta readers
  • Edit Masked Book 2 into 2nd Draft form
  • Work on Wolf Havoc rewrite
  • Get map done for Masked and new fantasy novel
  • Name new fantasy novel (at least a decent working title)
  • Write more short stories and writing prompts
  • Possibly seek out a critique partner. (eek nervous and excited)

Other Goals:

  • Read at least 10 Books (aiming lower because of Camp NaNo)
  • Make a regular blog schedule and stick to it
  • Start posting book reviews!
  • Post more pictures on my bookstagram
  • Clean my room and keep it mostly clean (Take 2)
  • Talk to more writers on Twitter and WordPress!

Progress on Goals from January-March:

  • Finish Editing the books I wrote during Nanowrimo (into 2nd draft form)
    • 80-90% Made lots of progress with 2nd Draft of Masked, Book 1
    • 2% Some progress on Book 2, mostly just added/rewrote a few scenes
  • Redraw map for Nanowrimo story (and possibly get it professionally remastered)
    • 0% Did not do this. But I did find the old one, and I’ve been referencing that while editing.
  • Work on rewrite of Wolf Havoc (working title)
    • 12% Only wrote about 10K for this
  • Complete plotline for Wolf Havoc
    • 70% Did not finish. But I did get most of the events worked out. End is a still a little fuzzy though.
  • Complete chapter map (bullet point list of events that happen in each chapter) for Wolf Havoc
    •  50% Got about halfway through this.
  • Read at least 15 books
    • 93% Read 14/15. Honestly, I didn’t expect to read so many. I thought I would fail miserably.
  • Write more book reviews (maybe a monthly book post?)
    • 0% Did not do this. But I have kept up with WWW Wednesday, which usually have a mini-review in it.
  • Clean my room and keep it mostly clean
    • 50% Did this and then it got messy again…
  • Talk to more writers on Twitter and WordPress!
    • 100% Yes! I’ve connected with many more writers and awesome people the past few months. One thing that’s helped with this is the weekly #storycrafter chat on Sundays hosted by Faye Kirwin. I highly recommend this chat!

Unexpected Accomplishments:

  • Made a bookstagram
  • Made my GoodReads public and started adding friends.
  • Made my Pinterest writing boards public.
  • New blog theme and added about and contact page
  • Posted some of my writing on my blog: Masked Excerpt and Writing Prompt
  • In February, I did a good job of following a blog schedule. Sunday: Writing/Editing Tips, Monday: Updates, Wednesday: WWW Wednesday. Hopefully I can get back on this schedule and add in book reviews!
  • Started a new fantasy novel… wrote 25K so far
  • Drew some of my characters from new novel
  • Did more beta reading for fantasy novels
  • Reached 500 followers on Twitter!

So didn’t get as much as I’d hoped done. I will try harder for next quarter! Camp NaNo will help with my motivation, for sure.

  1. Wow, great job on the accomplishments! It’s amazing to me that you have so many projects going on at once. It’s really inspiring. I’ve personally lost a lot of momentum because of travels, nervousness about betas and the upcoming conference (with my first real pitch with an amazing agent). Your progress and ability to juggle are giving me real motivation to pick back up on the progress I was previously making.

    1. Thank you so much! I like variety to keep myself going. Yay happy to help motivate you. I’m sure you can resume your progress! I lost my momentum for a little while in March, but thankfully I was able to get back into it. Ooh exciting things going on for you right now. You can do it! 🙂

  2. You’ve been super busy yourself. 🙂 How do you manage to do multiple novels at once? I think I would go nuts trying to do that. My fantasy series is already a lot for me. I friended you or followed you on Pinterest. I have hidden writing boards but I’m still not ready to publicize them yet. I wish you luck with Nano and your goals for this quarter.

    1. Indeed. Lol. 🙂 I’m the opposite. I’d go nuts trying to focus on one novel for a long period of time. Variety keeps me interested and motivated. It makes it seem like I’m making slow progress, but it has the upside that in a few months, I’ll have a few different projects ready to move forward with. Super excited for that time! Thanks for the Pinterest follow. I followed you back so I can see your boards whenever you’re ready to publicize them. Thank you so much!

  3. Wow, sounds like you had some productive months, and you’ve got a lot of great goals ahead of you! ^_^ Best of luck with all your projects!! Consistent blogging is something I need to figure out, too. O.O I’m starting with just posting every other week at the same time. Ugh, it’s so minimal, but if I can keep up with THAT, then I can work on decreasing the time between posts. xD

Also, I’m glad you made your Pinterest public, because now I have followed it. *nods*

    1. I basically took this month off, so I’m quite a bit behind (15K behind for CampNano). However, I’ll have summer break soon and lots of time then to work on progress. Thanks!
One trick I’ve found with the consistent blogging is to have a backlog of posts already drafted. The trouble there is, of course, finding the time to write them up. I keep a list of ideas on my phone, which helps. I did regular posts in February with that method, but since then, I’ve been too busy. Good luck with your blogging! I enjoy your posts, however infrequent they may be. I’ll admit, it makes it quite exciting when you do post one!
Thanks for following my Pinterest! I’m already following yours, and I’m impressed at how many boards you have. And they’re all really good. 🙂

      1. Yay for summer breaks to catch up! ^_^ I’m a boring working adult now, so I no longer have that commodity. ;D

I’m working on creating a backlog now!! So far I… don’t have any posts in my backlog. >_> But I’m working on it, lol. I do have a lot of ideas on my phone, too. It’s just a matter of making the time to write them. 😉

*blushes* Well, thank you so much, Kay! And I’m glad you like my Pinterest. I’ve always felt like I had too many boards with too many topics. O.O I’ve actually been trying to delete boards (or at least make them private) so they’re all vaguely bookishly themed, now. xD Hehe, I was really addicted to Pinterest a few years ago, and that’s when most of the boards were made. xD
