Time for the weekly book meme hosted by samannelizabeth!
Three W’s:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?
What I’m Reading:
The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss
I started on this lovely book, and so far it is not disappointing! I am amazed at how immersive the descriptions are and how realistic the characters seem.
I am also still reading the three from last week. I didn’t have as much time this week to read.
What I recently finished:
I finally got around to finishing this, and honestly, I was very disappointed. The beginning of the book was amazing, and the male love interest, Akinli, was really interesting (she meets him at a library and he’s just the sweetest!). But then Akinli sort of drops out of the story and it became about Kahlen’s whining and lots of murder with no consequences and it’s not at all what I thought it would be. This book is an insta-love story. Sorta about sisterhood too. But not really about any of the things I was hoping for…and seriously Akinli was barely in it. Not cool.
What I’ll probably read soon:
So I wanted to read a book about a badass librarian and then found out this existed. Coincidence? I think not. Also I have trouble resisting beautiful covers (Exhibit A: The Siren…). Hopefully this book will be entertaining. I’m not sure what to expect, but I’m going to dive in and give it a chance!
Have you read any of these books? Interested in any of these books? Please share in the comments below.
Ooh ooh! I’ve been looking for librarian books, too! (An item in one challenge I’m doing this year is to read a book with a main character that shares your occupation). I’ve just added it to my TBR.
I really need to read The Name of the Wind at some point!

That’s exciting! It’s fits the theme pretty well. (Also tell your book group that you’re a part-time sorcerer. Lol.)
Yes, The Name of the Wind has been on my tbr list for years. So excited to finally start on it! 🙂

You’re not the first blogger I’ve seen who was disappointed by The Siren. I had been considering it, but after reading a few less than impressed reviews, I think I’ll pass!

I don’t regret reading it, but yeah, you should pass on it. Not enough good in it for me to be recommending it to people. Lol.

I’ve been postponing reading In the Name of the Wind just because I have so many series that I’m currently working through and because I want to dedicate the right amount of time to it – considering its size! Hopefully, I’ll get to it soon. I hope you enjoy the rest of it. I’ve heard amazing things 🙂

I totally understand that. I’m reading it along with a bunch of other books. That way it doesn’t feel so long. I hope you get to it soon too! Thanks. I’m so excited to be reading it at last. 🙂

Love your thoughts on the Siren. I have it on my tbr but I as the Selection annoyed me so much I had my doubts about it. I think it’ll move to the bottom of the pile 🙂

Thanks. 🙂 Hard to say whether you’ll like it or not. Some people loved it, but it just didn’t do it for me.

Dang I was really looking forward to The Siren. I might still give it a try. Air Awakens looks really really good. Home

You might still like it. Akinli is a great character and the actual writing was good. For me, it was the plot that flopped.

The Name Of The Wind has to be one of my all time favorite fantasy reads! I hope you keep enjoying it. And I have been doubting whether to get a copy of The Siren, but it looks like I won’t be buying it any time soon now. 😉
Happy reading! Here’s my WWW.

Yay! I’m on Chapter 9 and already quite blown away with it. No idea where this plot is heading, but there’s lots of buildup and possibilities! 🙂 I bought The Siren for the cover mostly (I’ll admit it) Lol. Happy reading!

That stinks about The Siren! It does seem that one falls flat in the series. I hope The Name of the Wind fares much better. Happy reading!

I liked the writing style of The Siren better than The Selection series. But the plot and characters of The Selection were way better than those in The Siren (except for Akinli). So far The Name of the Wind is awesome! Thanks! 🙂
